Connor from Boston: why he came back to Hablandis for a second year

Connor, estudiante de Boston, habla en español sobre su segundo año en Hablandis

Connor is from Boston. Last year he came to Hablandis to study Spanish in Rincón de la Victoria, on the coast of Málaga. This year he came back. We sat down with him (in Spanish, of course) and asked him why.

Why come back?

His answer is simple: he had a great time the first time and wanted to do it again. He says our classes are fun, much more fun than the ones at his school in Boston, and that he loves going out with the other students.

A host family that feels like home

Connor feels very comfortable with his host family, and they do a lot together. They’ve been to the beach many times, visited the white villages in the mountains and gone hiking. This is the Spain he gets to see: not the postcard, but the one you live in.

Friends from everywhere

He has made lots of friends, many of them Spanish, but also from Brazil, Germany, the Czech Republic and Belgium. Thanks to the school he has been to local fairs and fiestas, and met up with friends after class.

The big question: tortilla with or without onion?

His favourite Spanish food is tortilla de patatas. We had to ask the question that defines every friendship in Spain: with onion or without? Without, says Connor. We’ll let it go. We’re waiting for him here.

What Connor describes is what we mean by immersion: Spanish in the classroom in the morning, Spanish lived in the afternoon with a host family and friends from all over the world. If you’d like to live it too, get in touch.
